Restoring documentation and reinforcing a social care platform
DigitalMara restored technical documentation, expanded functionality and improved the operation of a platform designed to help care for social needs. The platform is available for web and mobile and assists in finding solutions for individual everyday needs.
About the client
A startup from Germany active in the field of social care provides a marketplace that helps connect caregivers and care recipients. The idea is to support seniors and other people in need of everyday help, enabling them to live more independently and relieve the burden on family members. The marketplace assists in finding solutions for individual needs, such housekeeping help, basic personal care, companionship, running errands and more.
Approach
The initial query to us involved sorting out the current functionality and making improvements. However, the main challenge of the project was the lack of documentation for the existing platform and absence of a clear understanding of the system processes. We had to learn from scratch how the system works. Therefore, in the first stage, we restored all the documentation so the client could safely handle and expand the project without losing a lot of time and money.
In the next step, we started working with functionality, code improvement and optimization, and platform support. A system of this kind needs to work equally smoothly on the web platform and its mobile application, with the same capabilities. Things went so well at this stage that we agreed to empower the system further by expanding its functionality.
Key features
- The caregiver can register and add a list of services that s/he can provide, the price for it, available hours and other information.
- Anyone who needs assistance can register and add personal information about what s/he needs, the best time for service, personal health status, and much more.
- Each caregiver completes the selection and training process. Participants are comprehensively tested, trained, and have liability insurance through the platform.
- All caregivers can find each other and communicate.
- Webinars are offered for caregivers. The system also provides for online bookings, creating contracts and generating invoices based on this information.
Results
We have done a lot of technical work, including writing documentation explaining all processes, optimized queries and code; we also increased test coverage, changed jobs configurations and implemented new functionality. The client got an upgraded system both for mobile and web versions and a clear understanding of all processes, which will facilitate future system updates.
