DigitalMara attended Sifted Summit 2026 in London on September 30 and October 1. The event brought together founders, CEOs, business leaders, investors, operators, and technology companies from across the European ecosystem. Two days of sessions on the main stages, workshops, roundtables, and side events. The discussions focused on questions like securing further growth, building defensible products, attracting talent, navigating funding challenges, and competing internationally. Here’s our brief follow-up of Sifted 2026.

The central theme of Sifted Summit 2026 was “From Challenger to Champion: how Europe’s next giants are built.” The idea reflects a shift in the conversation around European technology. Instead of asking whether Europe can produce globally significant companies, Sifted focused on how those companies can be built and scaled from the continent. The program explored the transition from a fast-moving challenger to a category-defining company, with particular attention to product-market fit, customer traction, experienced leadership, defensibility, capital efficiency, and international growth.

Sifted organized this theme around three broad challenges: out-innovate, outmanoeuvre, and outgrow. Sessions examined how AI-native companies and vertical SaaS are challenging established categories, how European companies can compete through smarter go-to-market strategies and capital efficiency, and how founders can scale without losing the advantages that made their companies successful in the first place.

AI was naturally one of the recurring topics throughout the program. Sessions looked at AI-native businesses, the future of engineering, human-AI collaboration, AI infrastructure in Europe, and the growing role of physical AI and robotics.

The summit also provided a snapshot of which companies and sectors are currently gaining momentum in Europe. The Sifted 250, unveiled during the event, ranks the 250 European startups with the highest percentage of revenue growth over the previous three financial years. The accompanying analysis highlighted AI, fintech, climate, HealthTech, DeepTech, and B2B SaaS among the sectors represented in Europe’s fast-growing startup landscape.

DigitalMara attended 2 days of the event, where our Director of Business Development, Alex Rabinin, met founders, investors, and service providers from the UK and the international tech ecosystem.

“Small but potent. Sifted isn’t a mega-event. It’s cozy and curated, which makes it valuable if you’re there to build targeted UK partnerships and a local network. The UK is open for business. International businesses, startups, investors, and service providers are actively looking to do business in the UK specifically, and internationally from there. AI hasn’t replaced what actually closes deals: relationships, trust, negotiation, and the social side that brings strategic thinkers together”

Networking started before day one. The 5K run in Regent’s Park was a highlight and a great way to build warm introductions ahead of the main sessions.

What’s next?

There’s a lot of work to be done in the UK, especially with specific, competitive offerings that UK tech leads find attractive. The job now is to build awareness, stay present, and take the small, deliberate steps that turn first meetings into long-term relationships. We’ll be back, and 2027 may see more of a DigitalMara presence on the ground in the UK.
